The 2nd TATESC COMICS Global Awards, hosted by KADOKAWA (Japanese Kadokawa Group), is set to launch the submission channel for the Simplified Chinese competition area. This prestigious comic contest, sponsored by Japan’s Kadokawa Group and judged by all the comic editorial departments of the group, has been held three times in Japan and has now expanded globally.

The 2nd Kadokawa International Original Comic Contest Simplified Chinese Division has officially launched, offering generous rewards with a bonus pool exceeding 150,000. The competition will have entry channels in five languages around the world, with the aim of discovering outstanding comic talents globally.

In the previous competition, submissions in the Simplified Chinese section were vibrant, showcasing the diverse themes and creativity of Chinese cartoonists. The gold medal-winning comic “Hot Evolution” explored a doomsday thriller theme, while “Xiaoyu Forest” and “Karen of the Deep Sea” won the silver and bronze awards, respectively.

The competition will have two categories of awards, with the “Simplified Chinese Competition Area Award” offering a Gold Award (70,000 yuan), Silver Award (10,000 yuan), and Bronze Award (7,000 yuan). Winners will also have the opportunity to have their works translated and serialized in Japan.

The Kadokawa International Original Comic Contest aims to provide support and development opportunities for winners, with dedicated editors helping them start their journey as professional cartoonists. Winners from the previous competition have gone on to create spin-off comics and receive recognition for their outstanding work.

Registrations for the contest are open to individuals and groups of all ages, genders, and occupations. The submission period starts from March 29, 2024, and ends on August 31, 2024, with the shortlist expected to be announced in October 2024.
