The Beijing Team Dominates in Youth Figure Skating at the 14th National Winter Games

The 14th National Winter Games is on the horizon, and preparations are well underway. As the anticipation builds, intense competition is already underway for several events ahead of the opening ceremony.

Just recently, the figure skating (youth group) competition took place at the Inner Mongolia Ice Sports Training Center, where players Li Xuantong and Wang Xinkang, Chen Yudong, and Wang Yihan from the Beijing team showcased their talent and skill, securing gold medals in ice dance, men’s single skating, and women’s single skating, respectively.

The “Fourteenth Winter” has already seen the completion of 43 competitive events, including ice hockey (open group), bobsleigh, and sled. As of now, the competition has awarded 88 gold, 85 silver, and 70 bronze medals, in accordance with the regulations of the “Fourteenth Winter.”

In the open speed skating competition held on January 14, Wu Yu from the Liaoning team made headlines by breaking the men’s 10,000-meter national record with a time of 13:16.51.

Looking ahead, the 14th National Winter Games is set to feature a total of 8 major events, 16 sub-events, and 176 minor events, all aligning with the standards of the 2026 Milan Winter Olympics. For the very first time, mass competitions have also been added to the lineup, with over 3,700 athletes participating in what is the largest, most comprehensive, and highest-caliber National Winter Games to date.

Before the grand opening ceremony on February 17, spectators can also look forward to exciting competitions such as snowboarding parallel giant slalom, ski jumping, Nordic combined, alpine skiing, and ski mountaineering. (Reported by Zheng Yingxiu Zhiguo, Headquarters correspondent)
