The Cambridge Chorus Delights Audience with Spring Concert Featuring Classic Songs

The Cambridge Chorus held a stunning spring concert on May 11 at a church in Cambridge, sharing a series of classic songs with the audience. The choir, which has been famous among the overseas Chinese community in the Boston area for over 30 years, enchanted nearly a hundred listeners with their performance.

Led by conductor Dr. Yan Yufen, the choir showcased a repertoire that included popular Chinese songs like “Olive Tree”, “Chrysanthemum Terrace”, and “Two Tigers”, as well as English hits like “Shallow” and “Heal the World“. Accompanied by piano and violin, the choir members sang in unison, captivating the audience and earning cheers and applause after each performance.

The concert also marked a significant transition for the Cambridge Choir, as Hua Rende stepped down as leader after five years and passed the baton to Chen Weitong. Graduating from MIT with a major in robotics, Chen Weitong expressed his dedication to gathering more singing enthusiasts and expanding the choir’s influence.

“I hope to gather more people who love singing. Because after the epidemic, the number of people dropped to a very small number, and now we are slowly gathering more people,” Chen Weitong shared.

With the successful concert and a new leader at the helm, the Cambridge Choir continues to bring beautiful music to the community and create harmony through song.
