The escalation of hybrids, in July for the first time exceeding petrol cars

by admin

The decline of diesel and petrol cars continues, the market share of which is progressively reducing in favor of hybrid and electric cars. In July, the share of non-refillable hybrid cars exceeded that of petrol-driven cars for the first time ever, and is the highest on the market, having already exceeded the share of diesel in the last six months. Anfia explains it in a note.
Diesel cars, down by 50.9% in July, for the sixth consecutive month do not exceed the threshold of 25% share and represent 22.4% of the market of the month and 23.7% of the top seven months of 2021 (35.1% in the same period of 2020). Since the beginning of the year, diesel cars are the only ones to see their market drop (-7%). The gasoline car market also fell during the month, -42.5% and 27.6% of share, compared with a growth of 3.5% in the first seven months of the year, with 31.7 % of share.

On the other hand, registrations of alternative fuel cars accounted for half of the market in July 2021 and 43.9% in the first seven months, up by 65.1% in the month and 173.3% from the beginning of the year. Electrified cars represent more than a third of the market (39.7% in the month and 35.7% in the cumulative). Among these, non-refillable hybrids increased by 86.7% in July and represented 29.4% of the market of the month (for the sixth consecutive month a higher share than diesel and, for the first time, also compared to petrol cars), while they grew by 245% in the cumulative, with a share of 27.6%.
The excellent performance of the Fiat Panda, Fiat 500 hybrid and Lancia Ypsilon continues, occupying first, second and fourth place in the mild / full hybrid segment.
