With the delivery of the keys of the city of Domodossola to the two masks (Togn and the CIA) by the mayor Lucio Pizzi, the Domese Carnival has startedwhich will be reduced due to the effects of the pandemic.
The big curtain depicting Piazza Mercato was the backdrop to the ceremony, an evocative setting located in Palazzo San Francesco, the heart of the city’s culture.

For the occasion, the golden book of the Carnival was also exhibiteda large volume that collects the memories, images and anecdotes of the various editions starting from 1928.
The illuminated book, with a cover in carved wood and leather and with a silver closure, tells the story and the characters who took turns to keep tradition alive. The president of the Polenta e sciriuii committee, Alberto Polacchi, at the beginning of the event he wanted to remember the mourning that struck the city and invited all those present to a minute of silence in honor of the doctor Piero Cassani.
For decades, the Cassani family, starting with their mother Camilla, has baptized every edition of the Carnival, annually renewing the tradition and giving soul, friendship and solidarity to the entire Domese community.
Meanwhile, tonight at 18 in the collegiate church will be celebrated the mass in suffrage of all the deceased members of the Carnival. From tomorrow to Friday Togn and Cia will be in the schools of the city.
