Griselda Blanco, also known as “The Queen of Coca” or “The Godmother,” was a founder of drug trafficking in Colombia. She supported Pablo Escobar and opened the famous drug route that connects Colombia with Miami in the United States. In 2012, at the age of 69, she was murdered in a supermarket in Medellín. Griselda was accused of more than 250 homicides and owned an incalculable fortune thanks to cocaine trafficking in the 70s and 80s. Despite her ties to crime, the Colombian actress Sofía Vergara will star in a Netflix series about Griselda’s life. Vergara does not admire Blanco for her criminal activities, but acknowledges her role as a single mother and migrant who was able to climb to levels of power. Eleven years after being deported from the United States, Griselda was unable to rebuild her life and was ultimately murdered with a bullet to the head. She was known for her ruthless nature, and her life story will soon be portrayed in the upcoming Netflix series.
