MILAN – Legend has it that in El Dorado there would still be unspecified quantities of gold and wealth. While, from the Cadillac headquarters, in 1953, the Eldorado model appeared on the market, whose name seems to have been inspired by the fabulous city.
The car remained in production until 2002 and there are many examples produced, one in particular is part of the Guinness World Records book, its originality lies in the length of 30.54 meters and you can find it under the name “The American Dream “.
A record project and a dejà vu
The car’s first lengthening project dates back to 1985 and was “only” 18.28 meters, thanks to the Californian Jay Ohrberg, the wizard of customizations. The car was equipped with 26 wheels, two Cadillac V8 engines housed respectively one in the front and the other in the rear, to have a synchronous all-wheel drive belonging to a single engine control unit.
Not only that, at the time the vehicle had attracted the attention of the GWR and the world of cinema, which used it in several productions, then due to the size and the extraordinary maintenance required it was left to rust on the back of a warehouse in the New Jersey.
The restoration and the new record
As for the antiquities that see the light and shine again, in 2019, Michael Dezer, who has been looking for this specimen for years, finally finds and buys it. Yes, we’re talking about the owner of the Dezerland Park Car Museum and Tourist Attraction in Orlando, Florida. Immediately after taking him home Michael invests his resources and starts with the restoration, which lasted three years. Today,
“The America Dream” is by far the longest car in the world and boasts a series of options that only you will have seen its mammoth size. The car is able to accommodate more than 75 people and in the cockpit there are various attractions such as: a swimming pool incorporated with a diving board; the rear is a small helipad that supports up to 2,270 kg of weight; a jacuzzi tub; a minigolf course and a well-stocked bar corner. In short, if you happen to be invited to come on board, do not hesitate.
