The Municipality of Alessandria is looking for architects to “re-functionalize” the Theater

by admin

ALEXANDRIA. It has been at least since 21 December that the auditors should express an opinion on the Aspal liquidation operation with which the Municipality is finally able to recover the ownership of the Municipal Theater thanks to an agreement with the Court which provides for the “remission” of bankruptcy upon cancellation of debts and credits between the company and Palazzo Rosso.

The discussion in the committee had been postponed and so was the one in the city council which was expected to give the go ahead by the end of the year. We are in February, still nothing.

It is curious that after having managed to convince the judges to accept a “painless” exit from the procedure, it is the administration that cannot proceed. While on the other hand he continues the process for the reuse of the structure, closed in 2011 due to asbestos.

Just yesterday the announcement of the competition was published, launched by the Municipality in collaboration with the Orders of Architects and Engineers, to identify the project for the re-functionalization of the building in order to transform it into a hub of culture and tourism.

Timescales have been set: from Saturday 26 February to Monday 11 April 2022 it will be possible to register for the 1st degree of the competition and send documentation and documents; the examining commission (two architects, Vincenzo Latina and Alessandra Battisti, an engineer, Marco Masoero, a theater director, Angelo Pastore, and a university professor, Isabella Pezzini) will have to select the 5 to be admitted to the 2nd grade; from Saturday 14 May to Monday 18 July the sending of the relative documentation and documents; the ranking will be published on Monday 19 September.

Meanwhile, the bankruptcy trustee has sold at auction the musical instruments still housed in the theater: three pianos, two of which are Steinway, and the timpani. After years of humidity, they were not in the best of conditions, however, an “admirer” from Caserta was awarded them for 40 thousand euros, who a fortnight ago went up north in a pickup truck to retrieve them. After loading them he left his vehicle in front of the theater for five minutes and when he returned he discovered that his bag with the documents had been robbed. He seems like a joke, it’s not.
