The pandemic becomes art through the images and stories of students

An artistic competition for high schools in the Biellese area. It was launched by the Emanuele Lomonaco Far Pensare association on the occasion of the National Day of Remembrance for the victims of Covid-19 (March 18), proposing to students to create artistic works on the theme: «Who are the victims of Covid-19? What have you lost and what have you learned? ”

Painting, sculpture, literature, poetry, theater, music, photography, video and multimedia tools: all artistic expressions are valid. The works will be examined by a jury made up of representatives of Far Pensare and the world of art and culture, teachers and the Councilor for Culture of the Municipality of Biella Massimiiano Gaggino. And they will then be publicly presented during the awarding of the winners.

Last year, on March 18, the association gathered at the morgue of the Ponderano hospital around those who, due to the pandemic, had lost their loved ones, giving up even the last farewell to the hospital in compliance with the rules of spacing. As a sign of rebirth, a widespread wood of specimens of Ginkgo Biloba was born which from the hospital spread to many towns in the province thanks to the will of the mayors, the prefect and other representatives of the institutions.

“Young people have suffered, in addition to the direct consequences of Covid in their families, the restrictions of distance learning and the inhibition of all friendships, sports and recreation”, say the representatives of the association, which this year have decided to turn to young people and who have found that in the past year the pandemic has unfortunately reached every family, every place of work and social gathering, without sparing places of culture including schools.
