The POLI.design course on sustainable fashion is starting, with lectures in the presence and via Zoom

Out of Fashion, the first high-level training course on sustainable fashion organized by Connecting Cultures in partnership with POLI.design. Now in its seventh edition, Out of Fashion is rcarried out in collaboration with CNA Milan, Gianfranco Ferré Foundation and the support of the Consulate General of the Netherlands.

The characteristics (since the first edition) of the course

Together with a systemic cultural approach on sustainability issues in the textile and clothing sectors, the distinctive feature of the Out of Fashion project is the proposal of constantly updated contents changing context such as that of fashion and its production. For the new edition, the Out of Fashion training course introduces a module entirely focused on the theme of recycling and end of life of materials, addressed in all its complexity: from the definition of the different practices to the new experiments, from the need for a systemic and partnership approach at the district level, to the fundamental role of design and circular planning.

Form in attendance on recycling

The two-day module, scheduled for 11 and 12 March 2021, will be held in Prato, in the headquarters of the leading textile recycling companies and at the university campus of the city of Prato with interventions by entrepreneurs, professionals, scholars and journalists specialized in the sector. Together with the online modalities through the Zoom platform, the training program is enriched with face-to-face modules with lectures, workshops and company visits indicated in the didactic calendar. The lessons will in any case be recorded and can also be used remotely.

The new frontiers of sustainability

The module on recycling is part of a training project that proposes a systemic vision on the theme of sustainability in fashion, addressed in all its many aspects: new business models, fibers, organic and synthetic materials and environmental sustainability, technological innovations, traceability of the supply chain, corporate responsibility and workers’ rights, communication and relationship with the consumer, successful case histories.
