CNN – The Razzie Awards, a ceremony that highlights the worst in cinema, has announced its winners for the 44th edition. Among the nominees for worst actor and actress were Jason Statham, Vin Diesel, and Ana de Armas.
Movies nominated for worst picture of 2023 included “Expend4bles”, “Meg 2: The Trench”, “Shazam! Fury of the Gods”, and “Exorcist: Believer”. However, it was the horror film “Winnie the Pooh: Blood & Honey” that took home the Razzie for worst picture.
Academy Award winner Jon Voight received the award for worst actor for his role in “Mercy”, while Sylvester Stallone won worst supporting actor for “Expend4bles”. Megan Fox won two Razzies for worst actress and supporting actress for her roles in “Johnny & Clyde” and “Expend4bles”.
Additionally, the horror film “Winnie the Pooh” won four other awards, including worst screen couple for Pooh and Piglet as “Blood-Thirsty Slasher/Killers”. The Razzies, also known as the Golden Raspberry Awards, have faced controversy in the past.
Last year, the organization faced backlash for nominating 12-year-old Ryan Kiera Armstrong for her role in the “Firestarter” reboot. In 2010, Sandra Bullock attended the Razzie ceremony and accepted her worst actress award for “All About Steve”. Bullock defended the movie and urged Razzie voters to give it a chance, emphasizing the subjective nature of film criticism.
