The Rise and Fall of Griselda Blanco: The Untold Story of the Infamous Colombian Drug Trafficker

The shocking and terrifying story of Griselda Blanco, the notorious Colombian drug trafficker who terrorized Miami during the 1970s and 1980s, has been brought to life in a new Netflix miniseries titled “Griselda.” The series, which premiered on January 25, 2034, stars Sofia Vergara and delves into the life of the woman known as ‘The Godmother of Cocaine’ and ‘The Black Widow’.

Blanco, who entered the underworld at the age of 11, earned her nicknames due to her love of the book and movie “The Godfather,” and her penchant for getting rid of her husbands. She had three husbands and four children, and it was her last husband, Darío Sepúlveda, who played a crucial role in her criminal organization.

Sepúlveda, depicted in the series by Cuban actor Alberto Guerra, was a hitman who married Blanco in 1978. Together, they had a son named Michael Corleone. However, as police pressure intensified, Blanco became paranoid, causing strain in their marriage. In 1983, Sepúlveda took their son and returned to Colombia.

After this, Blanco allegedly ordered the murder of Sepúlveda in an attempt to retrieve Michael Corleone. Reports indicated that he was “murdered by men dressed as police officers in Medellín.”

In “Griselda,” Sepúlveda is portrayed as the hitman hired by Fernando Bravo to find the murderer of his brother. However, he ultimately becomes involved with Blanco, assisting her in her clashes against rival drug traffickers. The couple has a son and remains together until Blanco’s paranoia and drug use drive a wedge between them, leading Sepúlveda to flee to Colombia with their son.
