The Shocking Case of Jennifer Pan: A True Crime Story

The town of Markham, Ontario, was rocked by a tragic event on November 8, 2010, when three strangers broke into the home of Bich Ha and Huei Hann. The attackers shot Bich Ha dead and left Huei Hann in a coma. Shockingly, it was later revealed that their own daughter, Jennifer Pan, was behind the brutal crime.

Jennifer initially tried to deceive the police by claiming masked intruders had committed the crime, but her story unraveled when her father woke from his coma and exposed her involvement. The chilling case has now been turned into a documentary titled “What did Jennifer do?”, which is available on Netflix.

Jennifer Pan was ultimately convicted of orchestrating the murder of her mother and the attempted murder of her father. She is currently serving her sentence at the Grand Valley Institution for Women in Kitchener, Ontario. In May 2023, Jennifer and her co-defendants were granted a new trial for the murder charge, with hopes of proving her innocence.

The documentary sheds light on the complex case and the emotional aftermath of the tragic events. Directed by Jenny Popplewell, “What did Jennifer do?” delves deep into the story of Jennifer Pan and the shocking crime that shook a community. The documentary is available on Netflix for those interested in exploring the details of this disturbing case.
