He Colon Theater presented the programming for the 2024 season, which highlights seven lyrical titles, five ballets, 20 concerts from the subscription cycle of the Buenos Aires Philharmonic Orchestra and five presentations by the Stable Orchestra. In June, Sleeping Beauty will take the stage with the stellar presence of Marianela Nuñez, leading figure of the Royal Ballet of London; and at the end of August a mixed program will be finalized consisting of Suite in Blanc, Adagietto and Bolero X. In October it will be the turn of Giselle, choreographed by Gustavo Mollajoli based on the original by Jean Coralli, Jules Perrot and Marius Petipa. The ballet season will conclude with seven performances of La Bayadera, also performed by Galizzi and the participation of the Marinsky Theater’s first dancer, Kimin Kin.

As usual, the lyrical season will start in April with Ariadna on Naxos and stage direction by Marcelo Lombardero. They will follow you Turandot by Puccini with a setting by Roberto Oswald, The Consul, a 20th century piece by Gian Carlo Menotti according to the vision of Rubén Szuchmacher; Bizet’s Carmen with the construction of the La Fenice theaters in Venice, Massimo theaters in Palermo, Liceu theaters in Barcelona and Regio theaters in Turin; the return of Aurora by Héctor Panizza after 25 years and Orpheus in Hell by Jacques Offenbach. The closing of this program will occur between November and December with Un ballo in Maschera by Giuseppe Verdi, with stage direction by Rita Cosentino and set design by Enrique Bordolini.
The Argerich Festival will take place from August 3 to 18. In addition to the great Argentine pianist, Charles and Annie Dutoit Argerich, Homero Francesch, Cristian Budu, Javier Perianes, Marcelo Ayub, the Iván Rutkauskas Quartet, the Camerata Bariloche, the Colombian Symphony Orchestrathe Stable Orchestra of the Teatro Colón and the Buenos Aires Philharmonic Orchestra.

He Teatro Colón Experimentation Center directed by Diana Theocharidis will celebrate the 15 years of the Contemporary Music Ensemble of the Department of Musical and Sound Arts of the National University of the Arts (EMC Damus), with a program of short works by more than 20 national composers. The programming also includes the one-person Bela Vamp by Alfredo Arias, with protagonist of Marcos Montes and changing its headquarters from the Fernández Blanco Museum to the great Teatro Colón; the opera Kassandr(x) commissioned jointly by the Teatro Colón and the Alternative Stage of the National Opera of Greece, with aesthetics by the Uruguayan playwright Sergio Blanco and music by the composer Pablo Ortiz; Solos extr3mos, a set of works by the Scottish choreographer Billy Cowie for a performer, the dancer Luciana Croatto, with original texts and music by Billy Cowie; and At Grandma’s Bzloch Ensayos para a musical biodrama, by Axel Krygier, based on the memories of his great uncle and performed by a chamber ensemble plus piano and sampler, the participation of three actors/dancers/singers and a setting that includes original family objects.
The CETC will also present Materials under construction, universes to be exploited, by the Dance Company of the National University of the Arts (UNA) and Kenta, a contemporary music program by participants of the Children and Youth Orchestras Program of the City of Buenos Aires. A series of extraordinary concerts includes Chinese pianist Yuja Wang, the soprano Hera Hyesang Park, the Camerata Antiqua de Curitiba under the musical direction of Ricardo Kangi, the National Symphony Orchestra of Colombia directed by Yeruham Scharovsky, a concert by the Stable Orchestra of the Teatro Colón conducted by Sylvain Gasançon and another by the Petrobras Symphony under the baton of Isaac Karabtchevsky.
“Colón para niños” will have a special program for children prepared by the Stable Ballet of the Teatro Colón and the Higher Institute of Art, with the return of the production of Let’s dance! Where is the teacher?, and La Bayadera, both with choreography by its director Mario Galizzi; the one-act ballet Graduate Ball choreographed by David Lichine; the one-act ballet Coppélia, with choreography by Emanuel Abruzzo, dramaturgy by Juan Martín Delgado, music by Leo Délibes and musical direction by Nicolás Kapustiansky; and the romantic ballet in two acts Giselle, with choreography by Gustavo Mollajoli, scenery and costumes by Nicola Benois and lighting by Rubén Conde.

As part of the “Winter Vacation” proposal, Colin and Colette, a show for children about the opera The Fortune Teller by Jean-Jacques Rousseau, will be presented in the Experimentation Center room of the Teatro Colón, with stage direction by Alejandro Cervera; the choreographic show for the whole family Mundodanza with choreography and direction by Laura Falcoff and musical direction by Nicolás Kapustiansky; and the show about texts by Molière Grinding Moliere with music by Jean-Baptispte Lully and dramaturgy by Emiliano Dionisi.
The Academic Orchestra will give concerts dedicated to composers such as Brahms, Schumann, Bach and one dedicated to the Camerata. In addition, it will premiere a semi-staged version of the one-act chamber opera The Voice That Never Silences with music by Marcelo Delgado and libretto by Ignacio Apolo, commissioned by the Instituto Superior de Arte del Teatro Colón; and some arias and scenes of Opera ensembles in slippers, with musical direction by Marcelo Ayub. In addition, the cycle “Music and Cinema” with the choice of relevant Italian cinema titles of all time and the musical direction of Nicola Piovanni. Finally, the cycle of “Recitals in the Golden Hall” will present a series called Liederabend, choral concerts for piano, string quartet and a selection by Musicians of the Stable Orchestra of the Teatro Colón.
