Or put on a red silk scarf, and everyone still wore a shining party emblem on their chests. 100 party members and performers from more than 20 orchestras across the country formed this exceptionally special China Music Association Symphony Orchestra Union—BMF Festival Orchestra. Under the leadership of the famous conductor Zhang Guoyong who is also a member of the party, the orchestra and the Lanzhou Concert Hall Chorus opened the curtain of the 24th Beijing International Music Festival with a chorus symphony concert “Under the Bright Sun”.
In the folk song “Eastern Red” in northern Shaanxi that is like the morning sun dispelling the night, the concert officially kicked off. Zhang Guoyong waved his hands and accurately mobilized the high spirits of each voice. From “The Ship in South Lake, the Cradle of the Party” established by the Communist Party of China to “Defense the Yellow River”, a choral masterpiece born in the anti-Japanese war, from the “Story of Spring” which depicts the huge waves of reform and opening up to the “Story of Spring” which shows the face of the Chinese nation in the new era. “Don’t Forget the Original Heart”… After the composer Zou Ye’s adaptation, 11 well-known classic works have witnessed the party’s century-old journey, and also connected the older generation of musicians such as Xian Xinghai, Zheng Lucheng, Liu Chi, and Shi Guangnan to Yinqing. The development track of Chinese music by contemporary composers such as, Shu Nan.
The party members cover all the parts of the orchestra, reflecting from one aspect that “since the 21st century, China’s symphony career has undergone earth-shaking changes.” Yu Long, chairman of the Art Committee of the Beijing International Music Festival, believes that “As China’s first professional classical music festival, we have the responsibility to dedicate ourselves to this era.” From the initial stage, we will select those who meet the requirements of the voice and have the status of party members. Performers, to organize rehearsals, and then to form artistic tacit understanding between musicians, the Chinese Music Association Symphony Orchestra Union-BMF Festival Orchestra has overcome many difficulties in more than 5 months.
“There are more than 20 orchestras, each with its own history and its own style.” Zhang Guoyong was very pleased to see that the performers adjusted quickly during the rehearsal and formed a unique and unified voice. The spiritual outlook of the party members made him feel even more excited, “We hope to convey a message to our colleagues and the entire literary and art world: we are not just pure literary and art workers, but also shoulder a unique mission.”
The Shanghai Symphony Orchestra sent 8 party musicians to participate in the performance. “They are the most active group of performers in the orchestra, and they are the backbone of all tasks,” said Zhou Ping, the head of the orchestra. As a famous group with a long history of more than one hundred years, “we have witnessed the glorious history of the party in the past one hundred years, and are confident that we will assume the responsibility of dialogue with the world in the next hundred years.” Li Nan, director of the China Philharmonic Orchestra, is looking forward to the Chinese Music Association. The Symphony Orchestra Alliance has played more roles like this: “We need to give each orchestra a real opportunity to communicate. For musicians, direct communication is the most meaningful.”
