V from BTS Releases New Single ‘FREE(END)S’ – A Love Confession Between Friends

The new single from V tells a confession of love between friends. The singer of the famous band BTS mentioned that ARMY “will like it.” Additionally, a video clip was published on YouTube.

The singer V, a member of the South Korean k-pop band BTS, released his new single titled FREE(END)S. This track marks his first solo project, following his successful debut album Layover released in September 2023. “I prepared this song with the thought that I wanted to record it while looking for songs to share with our fans,” said the singer in a statement distributed by the group. In addition, he added that “it is a charming song.” According to the singer, BTS fans – popularly known as ARMY – “will also like it.” According to the group’s representation agency, BigHit Music, the song tells a love confession between friends.

V’s song is written completely in English and tells a love confession between friends. The launch of FREE(END)S was accompanied by a video clip on YouTube, where V interprets two parallel realities: one in which he is single and lives sadly surrounded by couples, and another in which he wakes up with his girlfriend and shares his life with her.

BTS, the greatest exponents of the musical phenomenon K-Pop, announced their temporary separation in the summer of 2022, after nine years since their musical debut. They attributed this decision to exhaustion caused by the constant pace of production. In addition to embarking on their solo careers, several of the seven members of the popular group (comprised of RM, Jimin, Jin, V, Suga, J-Hope, and Jungkook) are also completing mandatory military service in their country, which has a minimum duration of 18 months. RM, V, Jimin, and Jungkook began their military service last December, being the last to join. The group intends to meet again around 2025.
