ROME – Sustainability beats aesthetics in the choice of a car by Italians. This is revealed by a research conducted by Swg for Bluenergy Group according to which safety and cost are the main elements taken into consideration when choosing a car (both at 54%), but it is interesting how the level of emissions figures in third place and eco-compatibility, among the priorities for 39% of Italians. Aspects such as branding or aesthetics take a back seat.
In relation to the orientation towards sustainable means, thinking about a possible future car, the majority would opt for a low-emission car: 31% are inclined to buy a hybrid model, 13% a fully electric car, 9 % gas and 3% hydrogen. Petrol or diesel cars, more classic and polluting fuels, would be chosen respectively by only 9% and 8% of the sample. Costs permitting, therefore, the future trend towards a preference for ecological vehicles is clear.
