The new AIFA Pharmaceutical Scientific and Economic Commission (CSE) took office yesterday, 26 March 2024, following the Agency reform. The Commission, which combines the functions of the Technical-Scientific Commission (CTS) and the Prices and Reimbursement Committee (CPR), approved the opinion on the update of the Handbook of hospital-territory care continuity (PHT) in accordance with the latest Budget Law.

The opinion currently focuses on anti-diabetes drugs such as SGLT2 inhibitors, GLP1 receptor agonists, and DPP4 inhibitors. The Commission session was attended by various members, including the technical-scientific director of the Italian Medicines Agency, the President of the Istituto Superiore di Sanità, and other designated members.

The technical-scientific Director Pierluigi Russo presented the proposed Regulation of organization and functioning of the CSE, which was reviewed by the Administrative Director of AIFA Giovanni Pavesi. The Commission also discussed the various activities of the Agency during the session.

The approval of the opinion on the update of the Handbook of hospital-territory care continuity marks an important step in ensuring the effective management of anti-diabetes drugs and improving healthcare continuity.
