“The president of the Puglia Region, Michele Emiliano, has decided to suspend the Nardò technical center (NTC) program agreement”, which provides for the expansion of the Porsche testing track in Nardò, in the province of Lecce. The Region communicates this.
The project has been contested by environmentalists according to whom it would cause the loss of a centuries-old forest of over 500 hectares of enormous naturalistic value, the Arneo forest and scrub. “The Region, once again – states Emiliano – demonstrates its desire to combine the public interest underlying the implementation of the intervention with the protection of the environment.
We have taken a decision in line with the ministry, in order to reconsider some aspects of the procedure following the specific indications provided by the European Commission”.
