The National Immigration Administration Announces New Policies to Facilitate Entry and Exit Management
The National Immigration Administration has recently announced several policies and measures aimed at further facilitating entry and exit management for individuals and enterprises. These new initiatives are set to take effect from May 6, 2024, and are designed to promote high-level openness and quality development in alignment with major national strategies.
One key aspect of the new policies is the implementation of “full online processing” for the replacement and re-issuance of entry documents, ordinary passports, travel permits to Hong Kong and Macao, and travel permits to Taiwan. This will allow individuals to conveniently submit their applications online through the National Immigration Administration government service platform.
Additionally, the policies include innovations and optimizations for business travelers to Hong Kong and Macao. Mainland residents applying for business visas to these regions can now submit their applications at any immigration management window of public security organs across the country. The stay period for business visa holders in Hong Kong and Macao has also been extended from 7 days to 14 days.
Furthermore, the scope of the visa policy for talents going to Hong Kong and Macao has been expanded, with Beijing and Shanghai now included in the list of eligible regions. Category six talents working in these cities can apply for multi-visit talent visas for Hong Kong and Macao, valid for 1 to 5 years, with each stay not exceeding 30 days.
Other innovations include the introduction of a “other” type of visa for multiple visits to Macao for one year, and the endorsement of the “Qin’ao Tour Group” members for multiple visits to Qin’ao.
According to a spokesperson from the National Immigration Administration, these new policies aim to diversify application methods, optimize procedures, extend stay periods, and cater to various travel needs. They believe that these measures will greatly facilitate business exchanges between the mainland and Hong Kong and Macao, promote the flow of talents and technology, support Macao’s economic development, and contribute to improving people’s livelihoods and market vitality.
