Sudden death at the age of 64 of the former councilor and municipal councilor of San Vito. The moving memory of friends and colleagues
SAN VITO. Doctor Piero Maronese, general practitioner and for four terms in the city council, three as councilor, died on Tuesday 7 December due to an illness. The news left the San Vito community astonished.
Son of Ferruccio, organist of the cathedral, he was born on 21 June 1957 in San Vito al Tagliamento, the city where he has always lived. He graduated in medicine and surgery at the University of Trieste in July 1984. He practiced the profession of family doctor in the city, where he was well known, respected and appreciated.
Alongside family and work, he had devoted a lot of time to politics and administration. In 2001 he was elected to the council with the civic Alliance for San Vito and was confirmed in 2006 and 2011, in that session with the Citizens for San Vito.
When the civic had detached itself from the center-left majority, together with Emilio De Mattio he had founded the civic Progetto Insieme. For three terms he had held the office of councilor: one with the mayor Gino Gregoris and two with Antonio Di Bisceglie. He had been sick for some time.
«Piero was more than a friend to me – remembers De Mattio -. I started and finished my administrative experience at his side, sharing emotions and choices.
He was first a guide for me, then a friend of a human and intellectual depth that is difficult to forget. He made himself available for anything and I would like him here again to thank him ».
“For us he was a friend, an administrator who characterized a long period of San Vito’s political life, he was a person of great intelligence and high cultural depth, sympathetic, optimistic and kind-hearted: we express our condolences to the family”: this is how the mayor Alberto Bernava.
«I remember Piero with affection – says the former mayor Antonio Di Bisceglie -. I share in the pain of my wife and family. Piero was close to me as councilor, I learned to know and appreciate him: he was brilliant, acute, a great reader, he knew how to be with people, listen and speak. He was a very good person. “
Carlo Candido, secretary of the Democratic Party, expresses the closeness of the party to the family “for the loss of his friend Piero, whom we remember for his great human skills and his administrative capacity”. Guido Lucchini, president of the order of doctors of the Pordenone area expresses condolences «for the loss of a very valid and appreciated professional. We are close to the family ».
Piero Maronese leaves his wife, two daughters and sisters. He also leaves his clients, for whom he was a point of reference and whom he took care of until Monday. Saturday, at 11, a greeting ceremony at the Eredi Querin funeral home.
