American writer Paul Auster has died – Il Post

He was 77 years old and considered one of the most important exponents of postmodern literature, known above all for the “New York Trilogy”

Paul Auster, one of the most important and well-known contemporary American writers, died on Tuesday at the age of 77 due to complications from lung cancer from which he had been ill for some time.

He was born in Newark, New Jersey, and was considered one of the main exponents of postmodern literature, along with writers such as Thomas Pynchon and Don DeLillo. He had become famous throughout the world especially after the publication of New York Trilogy, composed of three novels: City of Glass, Ghosts and The Locked Room, published between 1985 and 1987. His latest novel, Baumgartner, it had been published in 2023, coinciding with the announcement of his illness.
