And at the age, no longer very fresh, of 77 years. It is the enterprise of Camillo Carlucci, a physician and child psychiatrist in Brescia, who during the dark moments of the illness clung to a dream, “his” dream, that of swimming around Lake Garda. He made it happen, with joy, sacrifice, pain and fatigue.

City where he fell ill during the first wave of covid 19 in April last year, when many lost their lives in those parts, he remains attached to us cultivating a dream. And it clings to us and heals. His dream is to swim around Lake Garda. He wants it and he has to do it. One year later this overweight man with a big heart throws himself off a rock in Malcesine to pursue his dream. Without any particular athletic training, with the daily stress that has accompanied him from a life together with a daring band of friends who support him on an unstable boat, he accomplishes the feat. Swim for 13 days averaging 10km per day. Everyday. Even if he is cold and it rains, even if he is burned in the face and dehydrated, with sores. Even when one of the last days he has a high fever and his strength fails. Eating mozzarella and hard-boiled eggs in water mocking all the recommendations he has given and heard in a lifetime. I myself, who have always supported him in life, did not advertise his business because I did not believe it would succeed. Here, on the other hand, he gave us an asphalted road to all doubts and fears, proving to himself first of all that if you really want something you can reach it.
