“It is with great satisfaction that today we are starting work on a structure resulting from a participatory and shared project, which will host local health and socio-health services, in which social capital will be valorised” – commented the extraordinary commissioner of the ASL Fabi – “Once the construction site is finished – has continued – this place will become the natural complement of the Vaio hospital, another excellence expressed by this territory”.

“The one we’re starting today – highlighted the mayor of Fidenza Massari – it is a very large Community House, thousands of square meters, which will respond to the needs of citizens, general practitioners and associations. The fact that we were able to start such a complex and expensive construction site in such a short time testifies to the fact that we were able to seize the opportunities offered by the Pnrr, while demonstrating at the same time that we know how to spend this funding efficiently”.

Elegance, brightness and greenery

The new building will be characterized by strong architectural elements, starting from the central body which will protrude from the north facade, giving the impression of being suspended in the air, separated from the ground floor only by a glass window. Inside, four pairs of exposed reinforced concrete pillars will support the wooden roof, also exposed, which will be “detached” from the horizontal roofs of the two lower lateral bodies, through two light cuts made up of inclined skylights which to the south they will become vertical windows. On the ground floor, the clinics will be arranged in a circle around the central space intended for a large waiting room for users: an architectural aspect that aims to underline the centrality of the citizen and the role of healthcare professionals, starting from the doctors of family and paediatricians of free choice.

In addition to the two large terraces on the first floor, there is an area intended for relaxation which overlooks the entrance hall, illuminated only by overhead light and whose wall will be greened by climbing plants. The hall will also be equipped with four flowerbeds, two built into the floor, two which delimit the balconies on the first floor. The parapets of the open staircase and all the balconies are conceived according to a single design, with a structural and furnishing function, forming a planter.

Outside, the project involves the creation of self-locking sidewalks around the perimeter of the building, with an extension at the entrance, completed with two large flowerbeds.

The stages

The new community house will be built on land owned by the Municipality of Fidenza, which has transferred the free surface rights to the Local Health Authority. The feasibility study of the work was developed by Teresa Oddi (SAT – Technical Activities Service of the Local Health Authority) and the definitive design by Andrea Mambriani (SAT) in collaboration with Emanuele Gozzi (Ingegneri Riuniti). The executive version of the project was edited by Emilio Molinari, Ilaria Montaruli, Cesidio Serafini and Umberto Corbellini on behalf of the company awarded the contract.
