Flames and Smoke Damage Gym in Battaglia Terme

BATTAGLIA TERME (PADUA) – Flames and smoke were seen coming from the roof of the gym in Battaglia Terme, causing significant damage to the structure. The gym, located in via Cesare Orlando, is now deemed unusable by the Municipality of Battaglia Terme.

The incident occurred on Saturday while workers were laying the sheathing on the roof of the wooden structure. A flame sparked, leading to a fire that was promptly extinguished by firefighters who arrived at the scene. Thanks to their quick response, the fire did not spread throughout the entire building.

Following the incident, Carabinieri officers and Municipality leaders assessed the damage and confirmed that it was caused by human error. The Municipality issued a statement explaining the situation and the expected timeline for the gym’s repair and reopening.

Nicolò Milanetto, the councilor responsible for Sport, stated that the gym is now off-limits due to the damage caused by the fire. Only the referee’s and athletes’ changing rooms are authorized for limited use, with strict regulations in place for entry and access.

Users of the gym are concerned about the timeline for reopening and when normal activities can resume. Milanetto assured the community that updates will be provided as progress is made in repairing the facility. The Municipality is set to begin clean-up and safety measures to expedite the process.

In the meantime, residents are urged to adhere to the regulations set by the Municipality to avoid any penalties or further damage to the gym. The Municipality is working to minimize the waiting time for the gym’s reopening and restore the facility for public use.
