Lombardy Region Proposes Points-Based Health Card for Incentives

The Lombardy Region Councilor for Welfare, Guido Bertolaso, has proposed the idea of a points-based health card that would incentivize individuals to lead a healthy lifestyle. Under the proposal, individuals who lead a correct and healthy lifestyle would earn points, which could then be redeemed for various incentives.

“Screenings for preventable diseases today are well under 50% of people who are entitled to them,” Bertolaso stated. “But we want to reach 100% because it means guaranteeing the health of citizens and reducing healthcare costs.”

The proposal aims to encourage more individuals to undergo preventive screenings and adopt healthy habits by offering rewards for doing so.

The concept of a points-based health card has the potential to not only improve the health of citizens but also reduce healthcare costs in the long run. It aligns with the goal of promoting preventive care and encouraging healthy behaviors.

The idea is still in the proposal stage, but it has the potential to make a significant impact on public health in the Lombardy Region.
