Building Bridges: Second National Health Meeting Aims to Enhance Intercultural Integration in Chile

50 intercultural facilitators from various communities in Chile are set to gather for the second national health meeting, taking place from April 5 to 7 at the Pedro Aguirre Cerda cultural center in Calle Larga. The purpose of the meeting is to address the needs of different communities, especially indigenous groups, and work towards establishing relevant public policies.

This initiative aims to promote greater integration between traditional and ancestral medicine and is part of the Special Health Program for Indigenous Peoples of the Health Service, initiated by the Ministry of Health. The program’s goal is to improve the health outcomes of indigenous populations by developing an intercultural model that recognizes and respects cultural diversity.

Through a series of projects and health plans, the program seeks to reduce inequality gaps among indigenous communities and ensure that their unique cultural practices and beliefs are taken into consideration in the provision of healthcare services. The upcoming meeting will provide facilitators with a platform to exchange ideas, experiences, and best practices in order to drive progress towards more inclusive and culturally sensitive healthcare policies.
