In response to the design requirements of Chromebook products launched by Google, AMD announced the launch of the Ryzen 5000-C series processors based on the Zen 3 architecture, which will meet the needs of applications such as remote office and cloud collaboration, and also ensure the safety of data stored on the device by users.
According to AMD, Chromebooks not only meet the needs of light use, but also meet the trend of remote work and online learning in the post-epidemic era. At the same time, they can also be used as productivity tools for small businesses, or for use in medical care, customer service and other work needs.
The Ryzen 5000-C series processors launched this time emphasize the maximum 8-core design to provide sufficient performance, and correspond to up to 13 hours of device battery life, while also meeting the security control benefits required behind modern application services.
Among the Ryzen 5000-C series processors, the Ryzen 7 5825C with a maximum 8-core and 16-thread design, with a maximum operating clock of 4.5GHz, will enable Chromebooks to have higher computing and multitasking performance.
The rest include Ryzen 5 5625C, Ryzen 3 5425C and Ryzen 7 5125C. All four processors are built with Zen 3 architecture and integrate Vega display architecture, with thermal design power consumption of 15W.
Compared with the previously launched Ryzen 3000-C series processors, AMD emphasized that the Ryzen 7 5825C launched this time, compared with the previously launched Ryzen 7 3700C, has improved web browsing performance by 67% and multitasking performance by 107%. In the image display performance, the performance is improved by 85%.
Compared with Intel’s Core i7-1185G7, the Ryzen 7 5825C leads 7% in web browsing performance, 25% in multitasking performance, and 10% in graphics performance. At the same time, in terms of battery life performance, compared with the Intel Core i5-1135G7, the Ryzen 5 5625C launched this time has a lead of 94%, which is attributed to the TSMC 7nm process, which supports fast charging and fast wake-up function.
In addition, AMD’s Ryzen 5000-C series processors also boast an integrated security core design, and also support Chrome security technology to ensure data security when using the device.
At present, Acer and HP will be the first to launch Chromebook products using Ryzen 5000-C series processors, including the Elite C645 G2 Chromebook launched by HP and the Chromebook Spin 514 launched by Acer.
