Retired Doctors and Nurses Volunteer at Red Cross Clinic

A group of retired doctors and nurses are making a meaningful impact by volunteering at the Red Cross clinic, an association supported by ten municipalities. These dedicated healthcare professionals have even completed a course to learn the history, universal principles, and national and supranational projects of the Red Cross.

The clinic, which is open 365 days a year, including holidays, is staffed by six doctors and ten nurses who provide essential services to the community. Last year, the clinic served 2,830 patients, offering services such as injection therapies, small medications, removal of stitches, and removal of ear wax.

One particularly notable case involves over 40 patients on the waiting list for the removal of earwax. The clinic is coordinated by Carmen Broggi and Roman Angel, retired nurses with extensive experience in care and assistance.

One of the volunteer doctors, Dr. Eugenio Aiani, brings a wealth of experience as a family doctor, former mayor of Faloppio, and leader in the Unione Terre di Frontiera. Despite temporarily replacing a colleague at a Como facility, Dr. Aiani remains committed to volunteering at the Red Cross clinic. He emphasizes the importance of offering his time and skills to make a positive impact on the community.

Also volunteering at the clinic is health director Maurizio Tettamanti, a retired super manager head of a department at Ats Insubria. Having started his involvement with the Red Cross as a medical student 50 years ago, Tettamanti continues to prioritize serving his community and assisting those in need.

The dedication and selflessness of these retired healthcare professionals are invaluable to the Red Cross and the communities they serve. Their commitment to providing quality care and building meaningful relationships with patients highlights the importance of volunteerism and human connection in healthcare.
