Consult for health: “We do not know how many health workers will still be able to stand” – breaking latest news

TRENTO. «The health system has never experienced a stressful situation like this. Where is the vision? Where is the accountability? So you can’t resist for long: continuously dabbing is not the solution. Someone will have to answer sooner or later. A mechanism is being triggered that could lead to an increase in improper deaths and an increase in chronic conditions. And politics cannot fail to understand and admit that the situation becomes more complicated every day ».

Renzo Dori, president of the provincial health council, speaks quietly. But his concern clearly emerges. The health situation is difficult. There are political and trade union aspects, but from his point of view and from his “observatory” the question must be addressed in order to give answers to the “end users”. To the citizens, who will be the patients.

Dori, this is a very difficult moment.

We are worried. Before the pandemic we were already at the limits with the staff in trouble and the system was already in difficulty. And there was talk of health cuts. Then everything was suddenly upset and the health organization was blocked. Now we are in the phase in which we can see the return to normalcy, but the suspensions, the accumulated stress and the short blanket do not allow it. the solution, the stress remains.

In the departments it becomes difficult to guarantee quality and safety.

Cases are emerging, you detect them almost daily: the birth centers, the suburbs, the closed beds. I don’t know how much the operators can still hold up.

And in general the climate is not favorable.

True, it has changed. They are few, they are in trouble, they are moved. They can’t keep up with the demand. And the unsatisfied patient will go to request new services at a short distance.

In this context, the uncertainties at the top do not help: 3 directors in a year and a half, an avalanche of acting, proxies and double offices.

There is no internal organization that brings elements of credibility and authority. Primaries are vacant, few have many roles. This contributes to a decrease in motivation. During the lockdown, the community recognized the efforts and supported the staff. This is not the case now. And we must seriously question how much we can resist in these conditions.
In this situation, what is the role of politics and the leaders?

It takes vision and accountability. Someone will have to answer for the situation, it is not the fault of a single doctor or nurse. Unfortunately, the messages in the latest political measures speak of a shift in activity from the center to the periphery. If this is the logic, they will be disasters. At this moment we need to be clear, to make it clear that the situation is very difficult and becomes more complicated every day. Removing beds means facing consequences, which go as far as an increase in improper deaths and an increase in chronic diseases.
