The Indian Ministry of Health announced today that a new variant of the coronavirus has been discovered in the country. The Guardian reports it. It is, he specified, a “double mutation”, different from those already identified in other countries such as the UK or South Africa.
However, the ministry specified in a statement, “the new variants have not been detected in sufficient numbers to establish a direct relationship or explain the rapid increase in cases in some states” in India.
