Covid: short hospitalizations with Omicron, but able to send hospitals into havoc

Compared to the Delta variant, Omicron infections are half as likely to send people to hospital. This is the result of a meta study conducted on nearly 70,000 Covid patients in California, published in The New York Times, and which demonstrates that even if Omicron causes less serious disease than other coronavirus variants, it still manages to send hospital wards haywire.
