New targets for the administration of the third dose in addition to the transplanted and immunocompromised people, scheduled from 20 September, and over-eighty-year-olds and guests and operators of the facilities for the elderly, who have started the inoculations today: in total more than 15 thousand people in Emilia-Romagna have already received the additional dose, while another 28 thousand or more have booked it.

The Region has thus implemented the latest national indications on the vaccination campaign and has given the green light today to the Health Authorities – with a circular sent by the general management of the Department – to prepare, each in full autonomy, the booking and administration methods for new categories of entitled persons, as has already happened for the over 80s.
“The third dose, for the people for whom it is intended, is an essential step of the vaccination plan, that is the tool, I would like to remind you, which is allowing us to leave the pandemic behind us more every day- affirms the councilor for health policies Raffaele Donini-. Respecting, as always, the ministerial indications, and continuing to give priority to the most fragile and people most at risk, the regional machine is ready to enter the heart of this further phase and to continue to work fully as it has amply demonstrated to be able to do throughout this year “.
“For this additional dose phase we have chosen- Donini concludes- to give the health authorities the greatest autonomy in defining the booking procedures, as has already happened for the over 80: since these are targeted interventions, knowledge of the territory plays a fundamental role “.
For all these new population groups, these are booster or booster doses, which must be administered at least six months after the last dose because the third dose in these cases serves to maintain an adequate level of immune response over time: the use of Pfizer-BNT Comirnaty vaccine regardless of the vaccine used for the primary course.
The third doses for over 80s and guests and CRA operators are underway
At 4 pm this afternoon, a total of 15,055 third doses already delivered in Emilia-Romagna: the health company to have administered the most is that of Romagna (4,754), followed by Reggio Emilia (4,207), Bologna (2,598), Ferrara (1,120), Parma (884), Modena (660), Piacenza (554) and Imola (278).
These counts also include the other possible third dose case, in addition to the booster: the so-called additional dose, which must be administered after at least 28 days from the last and is addressed as a priority to transplanted subjects (marrow or solid organ ) and immunocompromised.
As for reservations, they opened last week for the over 80s and the guests and operators of the CRAs, in a manner that varies according to the healthcare company: in some cases it provides for the direct call of the citizen to whom it is requested. only to confirm the appointment, while in others traditional channels such as the web, telephone exchanges and CUPs have been activated.
In total, the appointments already set for the third doses are 28,820 throughout the region: 12,699 in Reggio Emilia, 5,453 in Bologna, 3,455 in Romagna, 2,284 in Parma, 1,849 in Ferrara, 1,616 in Modena, 1,069 in Piacenza and 395 in Imola.
