Band used devices to commit fraud at UNFV
During the last admission exam to the National University Federico Villarreal (UNFV), the National Police of Peru (PNP) managed to capture ten people accused of belonging to the criminal organization ‘Los Trafas de la Administracion Universitaria’, dedicated to fraud in tests admission of state institutions.
This gang charged up to $3,000, which is equivalent to approximately $11,000, from applicants, with the aim of helping them fraudulently obtain a vacancy in different careers, but especially in Human Medicine. This was explained by the head of the Scam Investigation Division of the PNP Criminal Investigation Directorate, José Cruz Chamba, at a press conference.
Although the arrest was made on Sunday, April 28, in the UNFV process, Cruz Chamba indicated that the criminals had already participated in other evaluations, such as the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos (UNMSM).
“Previously, they were in San Marcos and universities in Chiclayo, Piura, Cajamarca, Apurímac, Cusco, Arequipa and so on,” he commented.
The Police colonel also explained that ‘The Trafas of the University Administration’ infiltrated one of its members during the admission exam, who used small electronic devices, such as ‘miniatures’, to take photos of the questions and send them through Dropbox to other members.
“These people (known as ‘The Brainiacs’), who have advanced knowledge in science, solve the exam and, through this type of devices, which are small and can be placed in underwear, provide the answers to these evils. applicants through a headset,” he explained.

After having entered, the interested party must search for the applicant’s qualification using their code or National Identity Document (DNI).
For this year, two entry modes were established for the 18 faculties: one ordinary and one extraordinary. For the first, 3,599 vacancies were available, which will be filled by people who have at least completed secondary school.
On the other hand, the remaining 1,397 are directed to the extraordinary modality, which includes young people who obtained a direct place through the UNFV Pre-University Center (Ceprevi). In total, the places were divided as follows:
