Regardless of your evaluation of the game “Death Stranding”, it should be considered a big success in terms of business. In an interview with GamesIndustry.biz a few days ago, Jay Boor, head of publishing of Kojima Productions, revealed that this game-specific work has sold a total of 5 million copies on PS4 and PC platforms since its release.
Compared with some of the masterpieces made by Hideo Kojima in Konami in the past (for example, “Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain”, which sold 6 million copies within a few months of release), this number may not be particularly dazzling. But considering that this is the first game after Kojima’s independence, it relied almost entirely on Kojima’s reputation to attract players at the beginning. Such a sales performance should be considered a very good result. The official purpose of releasing sales figures at this point in time is self-evident. The high probability is to create momentum for the “Death Stranding Director’s Edition” that will be launched on PS5 at the end of September.
