Doctors’ union, more courage on healthcare from the next Def – Last hour

The secretary of the largest hospital doctors’ union, Anaao-Assomed, Pierino Di Silverio, is calling on the government to prioritize the pillars of the welfare state – health and education. In a statement to ANSA, Di Silverio emphasized the urgent need to allocate more funds to these crucial sectors, even if it means diverting resources from other areas.

“It is not a question of percentages of GDP, but rather how much is invested in health and education,” Di Silverio stated. He urged the government to make courageous policy decisions to address the pressing needs of the country.

In protest against the Autonomy bill, Di Silverio announced a series of demonstrations in the area, with the first one scheduled to take place in Bologna on April 19th. The demonstrations aim to draw attention to the importance of preserving and strengthening the welfare state, particularly in the face of proposed legislation that could impact the autonomy of these essential sectors.

As the debate continues, Di Silverio’s calls for increased investment in health and education highlight the critical need for the government to prioritize the well-being of its citizens. Only time will tell if these calls for action will be heeded by policymakers.
