Dr. Enrique Ruiz Veguilla Awarded National Medicine Award in Otorhinolaryngology

Dr. Enrique Ruiz Veguilla, an otorhinolaryngologist at the Quirónsalud Infanta Luisa Hospital in Seville, has been honored with the National Medicine Award in Otorhinolaryngology in the VII Edition of the 21st Century National Medicine Awards. Dr. Ruiz Veguilla, who holds a doctorate in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Seville, has been recognized for his pioneering work in implementing new minimally invasive surgical techniques in the field of otorhinolaryngology.

One of Dr. Ruiz Veguilla’s notable contributions is the use of endoscopic techniques for performing the dilation of the Eustachian tubes, a procedure that has shown to be highly effective in treating a temporary dysfunction that causes symptoms such as muffling of sounds, pressure in the ears, and hearing loss. This technique has also proven successful in addressing persistent middle ear infections like chronic otitis media.

In the past year, Dr. Ruiz Veguilla has performed over 80% of ear surgeries endoscopically, demonstrating a high success rate with minimally invasive approaches. He is also dedicated to expanding beyond traditional clinical surgery by establishing an audiology unit that integrates specialists in otorhinolaryngology, hearing care professionals, and psychologists to provide a comprehensive response to individuals with hearing issues.

The National Medicine Awards, organized by ‘El Suplemento’, a specialized publisher in the medical sector, aims to recognize and celebrate the dedication of healthcare professionals who are committed to improving the health and well-being of others. These awards highlight excellence in patient care, research, and education within the medical community.
