Healthcare Sale of Fatebenefratelli to Lifenet postponed until March, uncertainty among employees

The sale of the Fatebenefratelli hospital in Erba to healthcare company Lifenet has been delayed until mid-March, causing tension and uncertainty among the 447 employees. The friars who currently run the hospital are set to leave by the end of January, and the fate of the employees remains up in the air until the sale is finalized.

The new company, Ospedale di Erba srl, was launched at the start of the year, with all employees and accreditations being transferred to the new entity. However, with no clear communication from the future owners, doctors and other staff members are considering their options amid the uncertainty.

The lack of clarity has led to a sense of expectation and apprehension among employees, with some doctors already exploring potential alternatives due to the uncertainty surrounding the industrial plans of Lifenet. Meetings have been held with trade union representatives, but no one has yet met the new ownership or seen their proposed industrial plan.

There are few concrete details available at this time, with the friars set to leave Erba by the end of January. Lifenet CEO, Nicola Bedin, has not yet communicated any plans to the employees or unions, leaving everyone in the dark until the sale is finalized in March.

Despite the uncertainty, it has been reported that Fatebenefratelli will continue to support Lifenet for a few months following the acquisition, ensuring a smooth transition for the hospital and its employees. However, until the sale is completed, the future of the hospital and its employees remains uncertain.
