It is said that in order to have a healthy and functional body, it would take at least 30 minutes of exercise every day. An article in “Scientific Research” states that Mayo University researchers claim that exercising for more than seven and a half hours a week is harmful to the heart. This is because excessive exercise can increase the risk of coronary calcifications. A condition that can lead to heart attacks and strokes. The same article, however, denies itself, declaring that: “It is not possible to speak of a cause-and-effect connection between the practice of sport and the problems of coronary calcification”. However, underlining that, given the numerous studies on this subject, the possibility that too much sport is harmful to health cannot be excluded.

In an article on “Albanesi.it” it is stated that: “Sudden death from sport has an incidence from 9 to 23 cases per million depending on the sport practiced and the type of athlete”. However, he also added that the categories of sportsmen most affected are those who belong to the low-level competitive category. It is then underlined how the study, from which these data were obtained, also states that: “77% of the deceased athletes had coronary artery atherosclerosis and 32% arterial hypertension”.

On “My personal trainer” it is stated that death due to this cause: “does not exceed 1-2% of the global number of all sudden deaths”.

On “Runner’s world” instead it is declared that a study on 800,000 people has shown that those who practice sports for longer, even exceeding 12 hours a week, have a decrease in the risk of mortality.

It can therefore be inferred that the argument does not present adequate clarity. However, it turns out that there are many studies regarding deaths related to physical inactivity and related obesity. These appear to be in agreement: a sedentary lifestyle causes the death of many people every year and all over the world.
