F1 2021 developer Codemasters temporarily removed the ray tracing support on the PS5 console version in the first major update after the game was released. The 1.04 version update that was released on the PC a few days ago was not released on the host platform due to the new adjustments of the PS5 version until yesterday.
According to the update details released on the official website of F1 2021, the game’s development studio was aware of the performance problems that occurred on the PS5 and concluded that these problems were caused by the game’s ray tracing. In order to solve this problem, the team made the difficult decision to temporarily disable light chase to increase the stability of the game. Codemasters stated that their goal now is to enable ray tracing again as soon as possible and update as soon as everything is prepared.
The Xbox Series X and PC versions of F1 2021 will continue to have ray tracing, because currently unknown performance issues seem to only appear in the PS5 version of the game. This update also fixes the problem that all platform players will encounter corrupted save files when editing vehicle camouflage.
