iOS 15 was launched yesterday along with iPadOS 15 and other systems. Apple also updated the support page of its official website to disclose some details of the system update. In the iOS 15 security update released by Apple, an enhanced Face ID anti-fraud model is included to resolve a Face ID vulnerability.
Previously, a system security researcher discovered a vulnerability in Face ID. Hackers could use 3D models to pretend to be users and deceive the face recognition verification systems of iPhone and iPad Pro. The vulnerability exists in iOS 15 that has not been upgraded, and all devices with Face ID features, including iPhone X, XR, XS, iPhone 11 and iPhone 12 series, and all iPad Pro models.
In addition to fixing the above-mentioned Face ID vulnerabilities, iOS also fixes vulnerabilities in CoreML, neural engine, memory processing, dfont, kernel, and WebKit to improve the overall security of the system.
