False Alarm: Gas Leak Evacuates Faculty of Medicine

On Tuesday, April 23, 2024, around 11 a.m., about five hundred people were evacuated from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Cantabria due to a gas leak alarm. The incident initially sparked disbelief as some thought it could be a drill, but soon turned into concern leading to the evacuation of the building. Police, firefighters, and technical personnel quickly responded to the scene to assess the situation.

Upon inspection, the firefighters determined that there was no actual gas leak and the alarm system had malfunctioned. Students and teachers were able to return to their classrooms after the all-clear was given. The dean, Samuel Cos, oversaw the evacuation and return to normalcy, reassuring everyone that it was just a scare. Technicians will now work to prevent any future false alarms from occurring.

The editorial staff of EL DIARIO MONTAÑÉS is working to update and provide more information on this incident. Stay tuned for the latest updates on our website.
