The Bologna Local Health Authority Participates in National Prevention Day

The Bologna Local Health Authority joined in the first national Prevention Day, organized by doctors and nurses from Fadoi and Animo. Long queues formed in Piazza Nettuno as Internal Medicine specialists, along with nursing staff, were available to citizens until 6 pm for health assessments. Tests and analyzes were conducted to early intercept risks of cardiovascular diseases, arterial hypertension, dyslipidemia, diabetes, obesity, chronic bronchitis, and infections.

Forty doctors and nurses were on hand to assist the people of Bologna. Elisabetta Romboli, Director of the Internal Medicine department in Bologna, highlighted the importance of cardiovascular prevention and health education. Stefano Alvergna, scientific director of the Fadoi Foundation, emphasized the significance of prevention within the national health system, stating that every euro invested in prevention has a threefold return in terms of citizen health and health service costs.

Andrea Longanesi, health director of the Bologna Local Health Authority, also stressed the importance of prevention, particularly in avoiding cardiovascular diseases, which are a leading cause of death. In Emilia-Romagna, as in the rest of the country, approximately 20% of deaths are attributable to cardiovascular diseases.

The event aimed to promote healthy lifestyles, educate citizens on improving their health, and provide strategies for leading an active life and quitting smoking. The Bologna Local Health Authority’s participation underscored the commitment to preventive healthcare and the well-being of the community.
