breaking latest news – Lshadow of ‘fake news’ and social hatred over the death of Giovanna Pedretti, the owner of a pizzeria whose body was found in the Lambro river, near a bridge in Sant’Angelo Lodigiano. Investigators suspect that she may have taken her own life after controversy over a review of her on her restaurant which may have been falsified by the owners themselves.

The woman left the house early in the morning and after a few hours her worried husband reported her missing. The discovery took place in the early afternoon and the prosecutor on duty, the fire brigade and the carabinieri with the Surveys section intervened on site.

In recent days Giovanna Pedretti, owner of the ‘Le Vignole’ pizzeria in Sant’Angelo Lodigiano, had been at the center of a media case after ahad reported a negative review for his restaurantleft by a customer who complained about having eaten at a table next to homosexuals and disabled people.

The restaurateur on Instagram had shown the ‘screenshot’ of the review: “They put me to eat next to some gays. I didn’t immediately notice why they were composed, and the boy in the wheelchair ate with difficulty. I was sorry but I didn’t felt at ease. It’s a shame because the pizza was excellent and the dessert excellent, but I won’t go again.”

Below, his harsh response (“Your words of contempt towards guests who do not seem to have bothered you seem to me to be gratuitous and rather unpleasant malice“) with the invitation not to return to the pizzeria again.

The post had received applause from the Minister for Disabilities Alessandra Locatelli but in the following days the authenticity of the review was questioned on social media, to the point that someone spoke of “marketing operation passed off as heroic defense of gays and disabled people” and dozens of insulting and critical messages appeared.

The same restaurateur, interviewed by Tg3, responded evasively, admitting the possibility of having fallen into an unspecified “trap”. Furthermore, the pizzeria, ‘Le Vignole’, is very attentive to social issues and since 2020 has promoted solidarity initiatives such as suspended pizza for poor and disabled people.

Lucarelli and Biagiarelli, no media pillory

“We are talking about pillory but in fact there wasn’t even this pillory that we are talking about on social media”: this is the comment of Selvaggia Lucarelli on the death of Giovanna Pedretti, the owner of the Le Vignole pizzeria in Sant’Angelo Lodigiano who she may have committed suicide after the criticism she received for a review she had reported about and which the journalist’s partner, chef Lorenzo Biagiarelli was among the first to debunk it as fake. Then, added Lucarelli, there is “a personal story” with “dramatic precedents but now is not the time to talk about it”.

“I’m sorry that you think that the search for the truth can have these consequences“, wrote the chef on Instagram, complaining of having suffered harsh attacks on social media. “If every person who tries to re-establish the truth in a story, big or small, were to have this epilogue, at that point we would have to close everything , newspapers and social media”.
