After a long testing period, YouTube’s Picture-in-Picture (PIP) feature has finally been launched on iOS. Users of both the paid and free versions will get the Picture-in-Picture feature in the coming days. Jumping back to the main screen while watching a video, the video will continue to play in a small pop-up window, while the user can do other things.

As early as last June, Google announced the opening of YouTube’s picture-in-picture function to iOS device users in the United States, and users in some other countries have expressed that they can use it. Now Google has decided to fully open it to all users. Picture-in-picture was once an exclusive feature for paid iOS users, and will be available in the coming days as long as the iPhone is upgraded to iOS 15 or above.

When YouTube only offered the picture-in-picture feature to paid users, users found that they could do it by logging into the website version with Safari, but it was later disabled because Google modified the website. Now, after a long period of testing, Google has improved the experience with YouTube’s Picture-in-Picture feature, which can be used by users as long as they use the YouTube program.

Update: YouTube atOfficial TwitterIt is stated above that the picture-in-picture function previously provided to iOS 15 and above is mainly about “YouTube TV” (YouTube’s streaming TV channel subscription service launched in the United States), not the YouTube App. If you want to use the YouTube picture-in-picture function, YouTube Premium subscription is required on an Android device to use.
