Veneto hotels collaborate on health recipe book promoting Mediterranean Diet

A new health recipe book, featuring eleven recipes inspired by the Mediterranean Diet, was recently presented at the Pietro d’Abano Institute in Veneto. The recipes were originally created by various hotel institutes in the region as part of a special competition organized by Lilt, a cancer research organization. The recipes were then reworked by the Health Chef Scientific Committee.

The recipe book will be distributed for free at all eleven agricultural markets of Cia Padova and in farmhouses across the province. The initiative aims to promote healthy eating habits and the use of fresh, genuine products sourced from local farms. Some of the recipes showcased in the book include chicken breast in a walnut crust with dressing sauce, Lamon PGI bean meatballs with vegan mayonnaise, orzotto with Baone pea cream and vegetable ragout, and Venere rice timbale.

During the presentation, students at the Pietro d’Abano Institute had the opportunity to prepare and taste some of the healthy recipes, under the guidance of their teachers. According to the school director, Assunta De Caro, this hands-on experience allows students to apply the skills they are learning in their studies and understand the importance of the supply chain and the connection with the territory.

The President of Cia Padova, Luca Trivellato, emphasized the goal of the recipe book to foster collaboration between the agriculture sector, farm holidays, restaurants, and the promotion of a balanced diet. Proper nutrition, as highlighted by Daniele Nucci from the Health Chef Scientific Committee, plays a crucial role in preventing various health issues associated with poor eating habits.

Local officials, including the deputy mayor of Abano Francesco Pozza and the delegate of the Padua Chamber of Commerce Walter Poli, praised the initiative for involving young generations and promoting economic growth in the region. Dino Tabacchi, president of Lilt Padova, also emphasized the role of the kitchen as a place for connection and sharing, and expressed hope that the recipe book will raise awareness in the fight against cancer.

Overall, the collaboration between the hotel institutes, organizations, and local authorities highlights the importance of promoting healthy eating habits, supporting local agriculture, and engaging young students in the culinary world. The Mediterranean Diet, known for its health benefits and preventive properties, remains a strong advocate for maintaining overall well-being.
