How to make money on Twitter – la Repubblica

by admin

Twitter is profoundly changing its skin. The say so changes related to the vocal aspect, which has become part of the expressive possibilities with Spazi, the Clubhouse-like rooms that all members with more than 600 followers can activate, involving others in live conversations.

But also the resumption of the verification program to obtain the desired blue check and above all the projects for allow people to monetize. Always a kind of “news agency for social media”, Twitter remains a favorite ground for experts, academics, disseminators, journalists, activists and simple enthusiasts, who do a constant work of information, although it is also becoming Instagram perhaps even more significantly in cultural terms. However, these people have never had the opportunity (apart from the usual external agreements, when possible) to get paid, from below, for their commitment. But things are about to change.

The tip jar
This is one functionality just unveiled: it is a way, currently active only for profiles that publish in English, to receive small free contributions from those who intend to support a user for any reason. Just click on the jar icon on the profile of the (for now a few) profiles enabled to activate the option (and who have decided to enable it), and the collection via PayPal, Venmo and other affiliated platforms can begin. Basically, in addition to following, clicking a heart or retweeting a post as has always been done, users can support profiles and authors who they value and follow carefully and believe, for whatever reason, deserving of financial support.

Tickets for the Audio Spaces
Tickets for the Audio Spaces will also arrive soon: the Ticketed Spaces function, as it should be called, will be tested in the coming months by a small group of subscribers and the platform, contrary to what happens with free contributions, will retain a commission of 20% on the price paid to enter a room, listen and maybe try to intervene. This is the 20% on the remaining sum once the slice due to Apple or Google has obviously been subtracted.

Also in this case the choice straddles the road taken last summer by Facebook with paid online events and the Clubhouse event on paid rooms, which could be coming soon. There are three requirements to activate paid Spaces: be 18 years old, have started at least 3 Spaces in the last 30 days and have at least 1000 followers.

Super Follow
Last February, during the day dedicated to investors, the platform also has Super Follow announced, also on the basis of the recent purchase of Scroll. It will be the turning point that many were waiting for to get something out of their dissemination work. In this case it will be a sort of monthly subscription: in the United States it will cost € 4.99, probably around € 4 in Europe, and through this feature users will be able to follow some accounts that will offer exclusive content for subscribers, from the same Audio Spaces to the newsletters, from special badges to discounts for merchandising to the simple possibility of having a conversation together. At the beginning of the year, the bird’s social network bought Revue, a platform that facilitates the work of writers and publishers for sending paid editorial newsletters.

The platform led by Jack Dorsey also unveiled another feature called Communities, which will allow you to join groups where you talk about specific topics (a bit like in Facebook Groups). And another one, Twitter Blue, which instead will give profiles additional features that do not exist at the moment, such as the ability to quickly retrace their steps a few seconds after the publication of a tweet and correct it. It remains to be seen if and how it will integrate with Super Follows. It is currently unclear when these new features will be active.
