Humanizing Health Awards Let’s start once again. In fact, today opens a new edition of the award established by Teva Italia to support non-profit organizations operating in hospital contexts, committed to humanizing healthcare facilities, «which improve the treatment path of people suffering from serious pathologies through an approach based on empathy, humanity, dignity and compassion”, as a note states.

«Giving moments of play and listening to children hospitalized with clown therapy», exemplify from the Milanese headquarters of the pharmaceutical company, «supporting families who turn to specialized centers for the treatment of serious pathologies pediatric; offer moments of happiness to the patients of hospice thanks to the presence of a dog in the ward; guarantee support and support for cancer patients”. These are some of the projects awarded during the last four editions, 16 in total, for a total commitment of 160 thousand euros.

An award for original planning

Teva Italia promotes the Awards for the fifth year, wanting to reward «original projects that go beyond treatments, to humanize and improve the care paths of patients suffering from serious illnesses». The selection will be made by Teva employees in Italy and the prize will be, again this year, a donation of 10 thousand euros for each winner.

The participation of over a thousand employees and collaborators is one of the characteristics of this award. «At Teva we believe that it is important to provide support and visibility to beneficial social initiatives which contribute to increasing levels of care through an original approach that goes beyond treatment. With them Humanizing Health Awards», explains the managing director Umberto Comberiati«we want to recognize the work of non-profit organizations capable of support patients during the difficult moment of the illness, considering the psychological, relational and emotional aspects”.

What’s new: a reward for caregivers

Important news of the 5th edition is the establishment of a prize dedicated to supporting the figure of the family caregiver, often the true pillar of home care. «In Italy there are over 12 million caregivers (Istat data 2018)», observe those from Teva, «who every day dedicate themselves with love and dedication to the care of a loved one, with a significant impact on their personal and professional life. «At Teva we are aware of what is important role of the family caregiver in the treatment process and we have decided to underline it”, confirmed Comberiati, “by introducing a new award that can highlight projects capable of supporting his work”.

Once all the applications have been collected, the voting phase will open in May and will end in September with the choice of the 5 winning projects.
