“We have a situation in which there is currently an oligarchy that is strengthening around the Bukele family and the traditional oligarchies. “All of them are benefiting from this process of looting and concentration of wealth for the benefit of a few.” Anaya mentioned
In addition, they highlighted the difficulties and stigmatization that youth experience, emphasizing that one of the problems they face the most is unemployment.
Regarding the exception regime, they pointed out that when taking stock of its second year of implementation, the results have not been the best, with respect to the situation of people who are deprived of liberty, in addition to the negative impact against defenders. from the human rights.
““More than 30 human rights defenders have been detained within the framework of the emergency regime, the prison situation remains critical, more than 200 people have died in State custody.” mentioned Gabriela Colocho.
Anaya, for his part, demands that the corresponding authorities in the defense of Human Rights comply with their charges, since it is generating terrible consequences for the children, mothers and fathers of those unjustly detained, and that the consequences of this social context that El Salvador lives is already felt in the population.
“I demand that the commissioner and the attorney for the defense of human rights rise to the level of their positions, that they take into account that the entire historical legacy of so many heroes who gave up their lives to defend human rights rests on their shoulders. human rights in our country… The attitude they have had in denying the systematic violation of human rights that is taking place at this moment by the current regime is unjustifiable.” the lawyer pointed out.
