Mollie Englehart wants to serve meat, dairy products and eggs at her vegan restaurant in Los Angeles. She has not made any profits since 2020. “My restaurants are really struggling,” Englehart told the LA Times, “like many restaurants post-pandemic.”
However, her decision was not purely financially motivated. Rather, she has learned “a lot about the soil and nature” in recent years and now knows that so-called regenerative agriculture is the right path to a better world.
Beef, bison, fried eggs and other products from regenerative agriculture will be on the menu in the future and help fight the climate crisis.
Animal protection organization reacts in horror on Instagram: “Betrayal of animals!”
Not everyone agrees with Englehart’s explanations. As “Business Insider” reports, regenerative agriculture is a scientifically controversial idea. A study by the former president of the Cary Institute of Ecosystem Studies in 2022 came to the conclusion that regenerative agriculture could even accelerate climate change.
The animal protection organization PETA also did not agree with Englehart’s decision. On Earth Day of all days, Engelhart committed this “betrayal of animals,” PETA wrote on Instagram.
Englehart, however, told the LA Times that she deliberately announced the decision on Earth Day. She is introducing this change “for humanity and the earth”.
